quickly, quickly – Enything
Portland-based artist Graham Jonson, known as Quickly, Quickly, unveils “Enything,” the lovesick lead single from his upcoming EP Easy Listening, out May 26 via Ghostly International.
Jonson describes the track as written from “a fictional place of dumb love,” capturing the over-the-top effort to impress someone you barely know, even to the point of losing yourself. The song’s layered production mirrors this emotional complexity with dreamy guitar tones and warm vocals.
In crafting the EP, Jonson leaned heavily on his home studio setup, a treasure trove of guitars, bongos, xylophones, synthesizers, drum machines, and a salvaged Teac reel-to-reel tape machine. This last piece proved essential, as Jonson ran entire mixes through the tape, manipulating the tracks by hand to create an additional layer of lo-fi character. “I used it frequently to add color and texture,” he explains, “warping the tape with my finger to give the project its weirdness.”
Easy Listening marks Jonson’s debut release on Ghostly International and follows his 2021 full-length album The Long and the Short of It.
